Kvarner After Dark - storytelling tours in July 2025

‘Kvarner After Dark: stories from Terra Incognita is an overarching name for a series of storytelling tours that combine elements of a tourist tour, costumed staging and role-playing games, and are intended for various ages and all lovers of history and culture, as well as tourists in search of an experiential destination experience.

The cycle is dominated by walks lead by a group of costumed performers who, in cooperation with the business Terra Incognita, held from spring to autumn in the Kvarner area.

This summer, there are also various tours, two of which will take place in July: Lovran: smugglers and pirates which will take place 8 July and Veprinac Ghost Tour which will take place 25 July. Both tours will be held primarily in English.

Storytelling (advent)tour ‘Lovran: smugglers and pirates’ is a hybrid form of an event in which elements of a guided tour, a team search for treasure and a role-playing experience intertwine. Moving along the labyrinth of cobbled streets, teams engage in lively interaction with Lovran merchants and try their hand at various skills such as deciphering the Glagolitic script, tying sailor knots, “cultivating” chestnuts, orientation around the medieval city centre, etc., all while avoiding the vigilant eye of Venetian spies and immersing themselves in authentic life stories from Lovran's ancient times. The adventure is intended for all ages and is open to friends, colleagues, parents with children, young and old – all lovers of Lovran, heritage, history, pirates and good games. Applications for this tour will soon be open, and in the meantime for news you can follow Terra Incognita Event Announcement, as well as Facebook event.

On the other hand, Veprinac Ghost Tour uses elements of folklore fiction, intertwines them with historical records and builds an exciting story that the audience immerses in as a tense thriller. It is a hybrid form between a tourist tour and a play in which the viewers actively participate. A licensed tourist guide and heritage interpreter in the role of the Veprinac Countess Ana Waalsa takes visitors to the sleepy streets of the old town, and actors, distributed by points, embody supernatural beings and in interaction with the audience revive the past time in which they magically intertwine with the real. Applications are possible through the Google Form, More details about the event can be found in Terra Incognita.
