Quality of the education system of the Republic of Croatia – Opatija Coffeehouse Debates

This year's first (and the fifteenth in a row) panel discussion within the project Opatija Coffeehouse Debates It was held on February 23rd in space. the Continental Café in the abbey.  It gathered about a hundred interested participants and listeners, which is also the largest number of visitors to any particular panel discussion within the project so far. The reason for this great interest is understandable, since the organizers dedicated the event to one of the most current topics in 2016 - the quality of the Croatian formal education system, with an emphasis on curricular reform, but also on the social role of universities in the community.

The panelists were Boris Jokić, research associate at the Institute for Social Research in Zagreb (and leader, until May 2016, of the expert working group for the implementation of the Comprehensive Curricular Reform and the scientist in whose support about 40,000 citizens came to the streets and squares last year), and Bojana Ćulum, assistant professor from the Department of Pedagogy at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Rijeka and one of the main advocates of the university's civilian mission, whom she studied as a Fulbright scholarship holder at Portland State University.

The full report with a summary of the content of the discussion and the full recording can be viewed at official website of the project.
